program and The employee volunteering program allows our people to participate in a number of projects
social initiatives designed by Costa in partnership with important non-profit organizations and local groups
to assist socially disadvantaged sections of the community. This program is an opportunity
for personal enrichment and team building while carrying out beneficial projects for the local
communities involved. It effectively engages the Company as a whole.
In 2019 Costa took part once again in (the 23 edition of) Fondazione Banco Alimentare’s
rd
Food Collection and in “In the Pharmacy for Children”, a solidarity initiative organized
by the Fondazione Francesca Rava N.P.H. Italia for the purchase of medicines for children
and baby care products that were then donated to charities and shelters in Liguria and to a
children’s hospital in Haiti. As part of our ongoing local partnerships, during the reporting year
we hosted further ship visits for schools and community-based organizations in a number
of ports of call; in addition to fun and entertainment, the day on board is intended to act as
a stimulus for these young guests. We focused particularly on Brazil, where in collaboration
with local not-for-profit organizations, over 800 young people were given the chance to enjoy
a day on board Costa Favolosa and Costa Fascinosa, explore the ship and take part in the
Kinder Joy of moving activities run by the Cruise Staff Team. We are always very busy
around Christmas time, initiating and renewing partnerships like the one with the non-profit
initiative The Children’s Port in favor of patients at the Istituto Gaslini Children’s Hospital
in Genoa, or our participation in the distribution of meals at the Comunità di Sant’Egidio in
collaboration with Costa Crociere Foundation. Together with Costa Crociere Foundation
